New feature: The Live Competition Stars

A new feature is now available on the forums. It's a star which appears under your avatar. The number indicates how many times you attended a Live competition. You can also see the scoreboard attached to this:

An International version of this scoreboard should be available soon.

To have a Star and a scoreboard entry, you need to have a name on the Gyrotek forums and you need at least one Score submisson on the gyrotek scoreboards ( to have forename and name validated etc..)

Counting starts from the 10/10/2006 Competition.

What about point system that the first in speed gets "as many participants there are + 1" points, second -1, third -2, fourth -3 and so on. So the first one always get one extra point. Same with metal, 30s and 90s.

Then you would have separate speed, metal, and endurance points. That would be fun.

That current system isn't that encouraging or inspiring, because you can just do 5000rpm and you get a star.

The stars are here to emphasize participation to the Live competition and not really the scores (that's the aim of the scoreboards), your idea is nice but it would finally be the best competitors which will end up first, and that's not what we want here sorry.

Anyone can collect stars and I think it's the best to motivate people to join us more often.

Moreover, many other things need some work besides the Live competition, and that's why I think we will have to leave this scoreboard as it is for the moment

To measure performance, monthly scoreboards are there, don't forget to use them

Is it always going to remain a single gold star with the number next to it? If so, can the number be black instead of white?...doesn't really show up very well on the biege background.

Jarkko's idea about the rating system based on performance at the competitions is a good idea, but I agree with Obi in that it's going to just bias itself towards the better Powerballers. And I don't think anyone's going to just post crap scores so as to get an increase in their Star-rating. I popped into the chat the other night and didn't feel the need to.
