Interview of MJ (MJ ),12864 RPM on february 2006.

-Hello MJ, can you introduce yourself?

Hello!
My name is María José, but you can call me MJ that is easier.
I´m from Alicante, Spain.
At this moment I´m studying Computer Science at the University and Italian at the Language School.
I like to practise sports, specially swimming, basketball and of course powerballing!
.

-You are the best female powerballer on the world ladies scoreboard, how do you feel about it?

I was very happy when Rory made the ladies scoreboard at powerballs.com. At the beginning I was alone at that board and I felt really sad for that. Now we are 7 at the ladies scoreboard, it´s good, but not good enough.
So, it´s great to be leading the ladies scoreboard, but it would be better if we had more girls at that board. I´m sure there are a lot of brilliant female powerballers out there

-How come you like Powerballs? I mean there are not a lot of girls practicing...

A friend told me about the Powerballs and as I´m studying Computer Science I thought that it would be a great item to strength my wrists in order to prevent RSI and other problems due to the long periods using the computer.
At the beginning I used the Powerball just like something therapeutical, but as 2 of my friends bought one too, we started to compete with each other, and since then I´ve been practising it as a sport.

-How do you train? Have you some some special technique?

I´ve been proving different techniques in order to find the one that suits me better.
At the beginning I used to train everyday about 15 minutes. After that I started training about 30 minutes or 1 hour, resting 2 days between hard trainings.
I think that endurance is very important to improve with speed, but it´s also important to have a rest after a hard endurance training to recover.
Something that works very well for me is to make 2 rounds of the 90s exercise using both hands, to warm before the speed trials.
Food is also an important factor. Lentils and chocolate are really good to have energy and make good scores.

-What could be done to bring more girls to this sport?

Maybe offering prices for the best female record of the month could be an incentive to bring more girls.
If we were 50 or 100 girls at the ladies scoreboard of powerballs.com probably Rory will offer a price, as he does at the men scoreboard, but at this moment we are very few and it can´t be done.

-How long will it take until you get over 13k?

Maybe at next live competition.
I´m really close and I feel that I could score 13k if I have a good run. So, let´s hope it will be soon.

-What do you like here on Gyrotek?

The best thing of course is the forum, where you can solve your doubts, talk about your experiences and progresses...
But I also enjoy very much the live competitions.
Gyrotek is a great comunity for powerballers around the world and it´s growing more and more.
Congratulations for your work.

Best regards and best wishes for the gyrotek team and members.

Okay that's all, thank you for the time you took to answer my questions and your readers thank you too!
